The Pumpkins

Owner Girl went to get pumpkins the other day with her mom and Zoe.
. . .
They had a lot of fun picking out the very best ones
but it was pretty chilly so they had to pick fast!
She even got a big warty pumpkin for Owner Boy and a little round one for me!

Owner Girl brought home our pumpkins and we washed the dirt off of them. Later that day Owner Boy came home and they had a great time cleaning them out and carving them. Owner Boy even used some of his power tools!

Here is my pumpkin! Owner boy used his drill to make all the little holes for the bone! They tried to get a picture of me with it but I was too busy smelling it! Chip tried to get it but I let her know it was mine! It even says my name on it!

Here is Owner Boy's pumpkin. It sure is funny looking!

And this is Owner Girl's. She made hers into an owl!
It looks pretty neat but I still think mine's the best!
I think they all look great together just like me and the Owners!

Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Hello again my furry friends! This week we will be learning a trick that can come in handy at the vet or groomers. And it's really easy too!

STAND
Here's what your owner should do:

1. As always have some yummy treats on hand.

2. Have your dog sit. Hold your hand with a treat in it, in front of your dog at about his shoulder but off to one side just a bit. Move your hand forward towards your dog almost as if you were going to touch his belly.

3. At some point while you are moving your hand towards the back of your dog he will probably get up to see what you are doing. If he does, say "stand" and give him the treat!

4. Your dog may just follow your hand with his head but stay seated. If he does you can try gently touching his belly on that side, as if you were going to try and lift him up.

5. Once your dog starts standing up, just keep repeating the exercise, moving your hand less each time. Always remember to keep the training sessions short and include lots of praise and playtime!

6. Before you know it your dog will be a pro and you will be able to do just a small hand motion or give the command "stand" for your dog to do the trick.

The Halloween Cookies

Owner Girl spent the weekend making some yummy cookies for Halloween. I wasn't allowed to eat them because they were too sugary, but Owner Boy gave me a little tiny piece since I was being so good (don't tell Owner Girl, he did it when she wasn't looking!)

They were a big hit with everyone and were all gone when Owner Girl got home from work today! I guess they didn't quite last until Halloween! She said next time she'll make some dog-friendly cookies too so I don't have to miss out!

The Pets of the Week!

Hi everyone! It seems we had some technical difficulties over the weekend. So we are posting the pets of the week a little late.

The Pets of the Week!

This is Raisin.
She lives in Colorado.

She is about 2 years old and loves people, dogs and cats!
She is part chihuahua so she is even smaller than me!

If you live near Raisin and are looking for a cute companion, you can find out more about her on her page at petfinder.com

This is Dottie.
She lives in Florida.

She is very sweet and playful. She loves other dogs and toys.
I think we might be related, who knew I had family in the sunshine state?!

If you live near Dottie and are looking for a darling dog, you can find out more about her on her page at petfinder.com

This is Survivor.
He lives in Florida too.

He loves to run around with the big dogs and enjoys spending time with people of all sizes!
He is so cute that we decided to do a double feature from Florida. Gee, I wish I could get my ears to stick up like that all the time.

If you live near Survivor and are looking for a puppy pal, you can find out more about him on his page at petfinder.com

If you're looking for a new pet but don't live near Raisin, Dottie or Survivor, don't worry! Go to petfinder.com and search for pets in your area!

The Family: Part 1

Well, I thought that maybe you'd like to meet some of my extended family since they may come up from time to time in my adventures.
First I will start with Owner Girl's Family, or at least part of it.

This is Owner Girl's Mom (Bonnie).
She just loves me and says that I have such a cute face! I have to say I agree!

Here are Owner Girl's siblings.
(She has an older sister too but I'll introduce her later since she has a family of her own)
From Left to Right: Tevin (14), Zoe (4) and Desmond (15)

Des is so funny, he is always making jokes and makes everyone laugh!

Tev is really smart and he used to say he wanted a little dog kinda like me. I'd say that right there makes him pretty smart!

Zoe is a new addition! She was adopted (kinda like me) from China, she came home in December 07. She loves me a lot and likes it when I give her kisses.
She even let me sit on her lap in the car because I was scared!
And this is their dog, Keena! We like to play together, although sometimes we get a little too rough. Maybe it's because Keena can't see through all that fur on her face!
Here we are running at their house!

OG's Mom has a couple cats too, they don't like me very much. One even scratched my eyeball last year and I had to go to the vet and get eye drops in everyday for almost two weeks!
Makes me think that maybe The Cat at home isn't so bad afterall.

Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Hello friends!
Get your treats ready because it time again to learn one of the tricks I know.

STAY

1. As you should know by now, get some yummy treats for your dog.

2. Have your dog sit. Hold your hand up, palm facing your dog. (As if you were singing "Stop! in the name of love...") Give the command "Stay".

3. Take one step back, but stay facing your dog and keep your hand up.

4. If she gets up go back to her and have her sit again. If your dog tries to get up right away you can try to just lift your foot as if you were going to step back. If she stays put your foot back down and give her a treat.

5. Repeat this exercise several times moving back a little further each time. I'd recommend returning to your dog each time before letting her get up (at least at first), but if you want you can call her to you when you're ready for her to get up.

6. If at any point your dog gets up while you are moving back, have her sit again and go back to the last distance that she stayed for.

7. If it seems your dog is getting worse at staying the more you work on it, it's probably time to end the training session and have some playtime. Always end the sessions on a happy note and keep them short.

8. Once your dog gets really good at staying you can try jumping up and down to see if she will stay or you can move to one side or the other instead of back. You could even try walking all the way around her in a circle.

Difficulty: 2 1/2 Paws out of 5
I'd give this trick a 2 1/2 out of 5 because depending on your dog it can be very hard to stay still and let your owner walk away! Also, the difficulty varies depending on how long you want your dog to stay and how far away you will be.

The Pets of the Week!

Happy Saturday everybody!
Usually I love Saturdays because The Owners and I just sit around the house and have fun together, but this Saturday both Owner Boy and Owner Girl are at work. That spells boredom for a little dog like me, but hopefully they won't be gone too long.
At least I can concentrate on today's main attraction! . . .

The Pets of the Week!

This is Dustie.
She lives in California.

She is about a year old. She is very sweet, and loves other dogs and kids!
She reminds me of someone I know...oh yea! ME!

If you live near Dustie and are looking for an adorable amigo, you can find out more about her on her page at petfinder.com

This is Tori.
She lives in Connecticut.

She is almost 6 months old. She and her sister both love to play and cuddle!
She is part Schnauzer like me! Well, at least we think I might be part Schnauzer.

If you live near Tori and are looking for a lovable lass, you can find out more about her on her page at petfinder.com

And remember if you're looking for a new family member but don't live near Dustie or Tori, don't worry! Go to petfinder.com and search for pets in your area!

The Leaves Are Falling

Well, it certainly is looking more and more like Fall around here. Owner Girl and I took some pictures of the leaves and stuff the other day. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

I think I know why they call it "fall". Because those leaves that are all the way up in the big trees actually fall to the ground! A few of them tried to fall right on my head and scare me, but I was too fast for those tricky little leaves so I got away!

The New Car

Owner Girl got a new car today!
Isn't it cute? Not as cute as me of course!
She has been saving for a very long time and looking for one that was just right.
It's even her favorite color! She said we should get me a collar to match.
The Owners said I'm not allowed to stand on this one though!
That's ok - I just can't wait to go for a ride in it, anywhere but the vet!
Look, they even let me drive! - Just kidding!

Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Hello!
This week we will learn how every good dog should say "nice to meet you" to new people.

SHAKE
Here are the steps your owner should do:

1. First, like always start a new trick with some yummy treats.

2. Hold out your hand just to see what your dog will do. Most will probably sniff at it but if your dog puts his paw in your hand that's great you can just teach him to do this when you say shake!

3. If your dog does not shake on his own, then you can gently pick up his paw and hold it in your hand while you say "shake". Give him the treat while his paw is still in your hand.

4. It should only take a few times for your dog to catch on and start lifting his paw to you all by himself!

5. As your dog gets better at this trick you can phase out the treats.

6. Another neat thing you can teach him is to shake with the other paw too. Use a command like "other paw" after he shakes with the first. Always have him use the same paw for the shake command so your dog doesn't get confused.

7. In no time your dog will be shaking hands with the best of 'em.

The Holidays Are Coming

Well, I saw somewhere that there are only 9 more weeks until the Holidays! No WAY! I had better start thinking about what I should get everyone. Last year Christmas caught me off gaurd and I came down in the morning to see presents under the tree and I didn't have any presents for anyone! So, I squatted down and peed right there under the tree!
Well, turns out they weren't too happy about that. How was I supposed to know?, I heard Owner Girl say that I had left a present for Owner Boy one day before I was house trained. I'll have to think of some better stuff for this year.

Thanks for stopping by today to see our Pets of the Week! This week we only have one pet because the other two we wanted to post were already adopted and we didn't get approval to post the others we selected! So, here is the "Tibby look-a-like" or the best we could find for this week:

This is Promise.
She lives in Arkansas.

She is so cute, is a good girl and has a sister looking for a home too.

I think she looks like I would if I fell in a great big puddle of white paint!

If you live near Promise and are lookin for a sweet sidekick, you can find out more about her on her page at petfinder.com

If you're looking for a new pet but don't live near Promise, don't worry!

The Vet Visit

A few weeks ago the Owners took me and the Cat to the vet for a check up. I guess I like the vet enough. But they always try to poke me with things, and that's not very nice! But I'm tough so I just deal with it. This last time was pretty fun, we saw a great BIG dog in the waiting room and the Cat just stayed in her carrier and purred (well, until she saw that great BIG dog! then she wasn't so happy to be there!)

We both got weighed and they said I am 20 pounds! I don't know how they could tell though since I didn't want to stay on the scale, I wanted to go say "hi" to the great BIG dog! Then we went into a little room with a table and stuff. We waited for a little bit, the Cat tried to hide from the vet by blending in with some stuffed animals they had on the shelf!
They found her though! Too bad I didn't fit up there.
Here I am at on the table!

At the end of the visit they said I was PERFECT, well geez, I could have told the Owners that!

Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Hi Everyone!
For this week's trick we'll be trying another pretty easy one,
and one that is good to work on once your dog has mastered "sit".

LAY DOWN Just have your owner do these steps:

1. Just like last week get some yummy treats for your dog.

2. Start with having your dog sit.

3. Then take a treat and hold it a bit in front of your dogs nose,
then slowly move it towards the floor and away from your dog.

4. If your dog lays down, that's great! Say the command just as she reaches the
laying down position and give her the treat.

5. Some dogs will try to get up or try to grab at the treat with her paws. You can try to vary how close the treat is to your dog or you can attach a leash to her collar and tug down slightly.

6. Once your dog starts laying down consistently, you can phase out the treats and hand movements. That's it!

The Great Big Peanutbutter Bone

I even took it outside with me!
Pretty nice huh?!
I guess they really do love me!

The Pets of the Week!

When I started this blog one thing I wanted to do was help other dogs find loving homes like I did. To do this I will be posting The Pets of the Week!, featuring animals looking for homes. There are so so many pets out there that need a home and I didn't know how I would pick just one each week. For now I decided to find "Tibby look-a-likes" (or as close as I can find) from each state and I'll list 2 or 3 a week.
So without further ado here are

The Pets of the Week

This is Snoopy.
He lives in Alabama.
He loves to cuddle, walk with people and play with his toys.
I think we might be long lost cousins, don't you?

If you live near Snoopy and are lookin for a forever friend, you can find out more about him on his page at petfinder.com

Here is Ira.
He lives in Alaska.
He has lots of love to give, and lots of personality too! And he's well trained.
I know he is way bigger than me but he is as big as I feel! Plus he has white markings like me!

If you live near Ira and are looking for a cute companion, you can find out more about him on his page at petfinder.com

And this is Sophie.
She lives in Arizona.
She is 5 months old, and is very loving & playful.
She even likes to wear her ears like me: one down & one sideways!
