The Newest Chinchilla Angel

Hello Everyone.
I am sad to report that my little buddy Ru passed away early this morning.
He seemed to be making a comeback but took a turn for the worse late last night.
The Owners and I tried very hard to save him but he was just too small and weak.
We are happy that in his short life he was able to experience the love of a family.
We will certainly miss him but know that he is happy, and chubby like he should be, running and jumping all over Chinchilla Heaven.

The Pets of the Week!

Hello my friends!
Glad to see you stopped by to see our Pets of the Week!
We sure hope these pups can find their forever homes for the holidays!

The Pets of the Week!

This is Rowdy.
He lives in Louisiana.

He loves to be a lap dog, give kisses and get belly rubs. He is very active and loves to play with other pups!
Look at all that crazy fur on his ears! I'm one jealous pup!

If you live near Rowdy and are looking for an adorable amigo, you can find out more about him on
his page at petfinder.com

This is Barry.
He lives in Tennessee but is listed with a rescue in Maine.

He is a lover and is full of affection! He gets along with other dogs and loves people!
He is looking for a new home in the north and will be transported to his new owners when they are found (that's exactly how The Owners adopted me!).

If you live near Barry and are looking for a cute companion, you can find out more about him on
his page at petfinder.com

Are you looking for a new forever friend but don't live near Rowdy or Barry?
Don't worry! Just go to petfinder.com and search for pets in your area!
And please consider adopting a pet from a reputable shelter in the south,
where overpopulation is very bad!
You could get an adorable southern-born pup like myself!

The Thanksgiving Pictures

Hello!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!
I sure did even though The Owners didn't take me with them!
But they did take Ru the Chinchilla! Can you believe it!? They said it was because
"He is such a little baby and needs to be fed every couple hours, plus he was in a cage."
But all I heard was "He's our new favorite, you're not quite as fluffy, he won't even ask for any of our turkey!"
Oh well,
Here are some pictures from their day.

They had to drive a very long way and saw some big big hills!

Here is the yummy turkey they got to eat!

They got to see Loki and Blue, Owner Girl's Aunt's dogs!

I met them last summer but Blue was way smaller back then.
Loki must have had lots of turkey cuz he slept almost the whole time they were there!
Owner Boy said he was going to take Blue home with them because she knows lots of great tricks! Even more than I do! But they decided that OG's Aunt would miss her too much!

It was Zoe's first thanksgiving in the US!

Looks like she had a good time playing outside with Tev.

Here are OG's Aunts, Mom and Grandma!

It seems like they had a hard time concentrating or staying still. I have that problem sometimes when Owner Girl is taking pictures of me, she should have given them some yummy turkey treats, that always works on me!

Owner Girl said they had a lot of fun visiting with her family and Ru the Chinchilla was a big hit, everyone LOVED him (that's only because I wasn't there to steal the show). She got to see many cousins and Aunts and Uncles and her Grandma who is usually far away in a place called Florida! But of course they missed me and were glad to be home, I was very excited to see them and I was even happy to see my little friend Ru.

Ru the Chinchilla Update
Ru did great on thankgiving. He ate well all day long and was jumping around and showing off for the whole family!
Then this morning Owner Girl got up and Ru was very cold and wasn't being too active. She got him warmed up and tried to feed him but he didn't want to eat! After a little while being pampered he started to perk up and ate a little bit. He seems to be getting back on track now but we are still very worried about him! He could get sick so easily since he is so small. We are going to keep a closer eye on his heat pad to make sure that he stays nice and warm.

The Turkey Day 2008 Post

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! It would be happier if I were with The Owners but they went to dinner at Owner Girl's Aunt's and couldn't bring me.
I'm a little grumpy about that but don't worry, I will be spending the day with
Owner Boy's family and my buddies Gunner and Chip!
Plus I'm sure The Owners will bring home some extra turkey leftovers for me!
Which means thanksgiving turkey times two for me!Since it is Thanksgiving and all I thought I'd mention some of the things I am thankful for!

1. I am so thankful for my wonderful home and Owners that love me!
(Even if they can't take me to Thanksgiving dinner with them)

2. I'm thankful that I am a healthy, happy, adorable and talented little dog!

3. I am thankful for my great extended family. They take care of me when my Owners can't.

4. Also, I am so thankful for all my new doggy friends!
You can see all of them on my side bar under my friends!
If you aren't listed and want to be just let me know.
I may have forgotten a few puppy pals on accident.

Of course there's lots more to be thankful for but I think I smell some turkey so I better run!
What are you thankful for?

I hope everyone has a happy, safe and turkey filled Thanksgiving!

The Future First Dog

So I heard that the president-elect Barack Obama might be looking to adopt a shelter dog. But he is worried about his daughter's allergies. Well, Petfinder.com pointed out that there are plenty of shelter dogs that are hypo-allergenic and there are lots of them just waiting for loving homes! Guess what one of the breeds listed as good for people with allergies was? Mini Schnauzer! That's me! Well, partly anyways! Just think, if I didn't already have a great home with The Owners I could be livin' it up in the White House!!Maybe Senator Obama should look through my Pets of the Week to see if anypuppy catches his eye! I am so excited to see the lucky dog they pick! That dog will become the first dog of the United States of America! That's almost like being second in command! I really hope he picks a wonderful adoptable dog, it will be a great day for shelter dogs everywhere and an American Dog Dream come true for one lucky dog!

Rudolph the Chinchilla Update
My new friend Rudolph is doing pretty good.
He is going to be a week old tomorrow!
He's starting to eat a little bit more although he's still pretty small.
He likes to follow me around and tries to snuggle in with me.Owner Girl says he thinks I'm his mama! What a silly little guy!
His nose isn't so red anymore which is good!We are gonna call him Ru for short!
So far he is doing pretty good, we hope it stays that way.

Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Hello friends!
Today we will learn one of my very favorite things to do:

SPEAK!
(Owner Girl took a video
of me performing this
trick but silly her took it
sideways and can't turn
it. So we will have to
try to get a new one
at some point tomorrow.)

Here are the things your owner should do:

1. Remember the treats!

2. You should think of something that typically makes your dog bark - like the doorbell.

3. Say "speak" and then ring the doorbell (or do whatever it is that triggers your dog to bark) or have someone else help you by ringing the bell while you are inside with your dog.

4. After your dog barks once give him the treat.

5. If your dog is likely to run around crazily when the doorbell rings, try putting him on a leash before starting the training.

6. After a few successful tries, phase out the doorbell so that your dog learns to "speak" because of your command not just because of the doorbell.

7. You can also try using a hand signal (Owner Girl does one that looks like a duck quacking or... a dog barking!, I bet that's why she uses that one!)

8. In theory, teaching your dog this trick can help him learn to speak only when you tell him to. That didn't work on me though, I've got WAY too much to say! Owner Girl says we still have some work to do on that. But I am very good at speaking on command!

Oops, I have been forgetting this part the last couple weeks...
Difficulty: 2 Paws out of 5
This trick is pretty easy for most dogs to learn but if you want it to help keep your dog quiet at times when you're not asking him to speak, it may be more difficult depending on your dog and his personality.

The Red Nosed Chinchilla

Hi Everyone!
I have a new "friend", his name is Rudolph. He is a baby chinchilla.
I am very fascinated with him and love to stare at him all the time.
He was born just a few days ago, when he was born instead of taking care of him, his mama chinchilla tried to hurt him (that's how his nose got all red).So Owner Girl is taking care of him now.
We hope that she can save him.
Please keep him in your puppy prayers, and I will keep you updated on how he is doing.

The New Look

Happy Friday everybody!
Since Owner Girl said that winter is here to stay for a few months,
we thought it was time to change my blog design!
What do ya think?
I like it, especially the pictures of me modeling my new winter coat!
It keeps me nice and warm!
Well I gotta run!

The Day Out

Turns out The Owners gave me a bath because we were going out for the day! Our first stop was Owner Boy's Dad's House. They even let me inside this time, maybe it's because I was so clean! They thought Joe was something called 'llergic to me, but turns out he's not!

Here I am in the house, hey there's something making noise up there...
it's a bird! I met this guy when I was there, he didn't like me too much. Probably because I was SO excited to see him that I was jumping up and down!

The Owners ordered some pizza and I even got a couple pieces of crust from Owner Boy and his dad!

We visited for a little bit and then we got back in the car and took a little drive.

Hey we stopped again, I wonder where we are?
Oh! It's the pet store! Can we go in now please?
I love the pet store because you can see lots of people and animals and it's the only store they let me go in!

Look what I found! A rabbit!
Here I am in front of the Christmas toys! Maybe I will get one like this for Christmas!

We saw a few other dogs there and I barked at them at first but by the time we left the store I walked right by another dog and didn't bark!
The Owners say I need to work on my social skills since I get soooo excited when I see other dogs. So going to the pet store was good practice for me.

We also saw bones as big as me! I wanted to take one home but Owner Boy thought some smaller ones would be better.

Then we went to get my nails done since I was scratching people on accident. They even cleaned my ears and gave me some cinnamon breath spray, I didn't like that very much! But I got a special bandanna for being so good.

Here I am with Owner Boy on the way home.

Look at my special souvenir!
And what a nice way to end the day, relaxing at home with a new bone!
We had a great day together and I hope that we can go back again soon, especially if I can get more bones!

Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Hello and welcome to My Tricky Tuesday!

This week we will be learning how to

SPIN
Spin is when you turn around in a circle. It's kind of a hard one to get a picture of.

Here's what your owner should do:
1. Get some yummy, delicious, fantastic doggy treats!

2. Have your dog stand.

3. With a treat in your hand, move your hand in a circular motion starting on one side of your dog's nose and moving towards his tail.

4. Your dog should follow your hand all the way around in a circle. When he has completed the spin give him the treat.

5. If your dog just turns his head but doesn't move to follow the treat, try moving more slowly or try getting him to follow for a quarter circle or half circle.

6. Once your dog is completing the spin consistently you can begin to phase out the hand motion or transition to a smaller circle at your chest level as a signal for spin.

7. Remember to keep training sessions short and fun! If your dog doesn't seem to be getting the trick you are working on, try one he already knows for a bit and come back to the new trick at another time.

If our tips don't seem to be working for you and your dog, don't worry. There are many professional dog trainers that have way more tips and expertise. These are just the things that worked for us! Good luck with all your doggy training and come back next week to see another awesome trick I know!

The Bath

The Owners had a big day planned for me on Saturday and it all started with a bath! Don't they know how long it took me to get this perfect smell?!

Here I am all lathered up with my dog shampoo!
All rinsed off, this is me saying "can I get out now Owner Boy?"
I shook all that water off and made my fur look Crazy!
Waiting to leave the bathroom so I can run around like crazy trying to rub the clean off me.
Here I am all bundled up in a towel, nice and warm.
I guess this isn't so bad, I'm nice and cozy in my towel.
The Owners say I am so soft and smell so good now,
they even said maybe I should get a bath more often!
Uh oh, I will have to think of something to stop their plan!
Stop back on Thursday to see why The Owners wanted me nice and clean!
