Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!

Welcome one and all to the very first edition of Tibby's Tricky Tuesday!
I thought we'd start out with an easy one and the very first trick I learned:

SIT!

Here's what your owner needs to do:

1. Get the best, most yummiest treats they can find (this step is absolutely essential)

2. Pick a nice quiet place where your dog is not likely to be distracted if this is your first time trying this trick, if he is pretty good at it then try it outside or someplace more exciting!

3. While your dog is standing bring one of the treats to his nose and then raise it up slightly and over his head. Don't lift it too high or he may try to jump up.

4. If your dog sits, Great! Say sit as his butt hits the ground and give him the treat. Just keep repeating the exercise (with short, fun training sessions) slowly phasing out the treats and the hand movements.

5. If your dog doesn't sit you can try gently guiding his butt down just a little until he sits on his own.

6. To make sure that your dog doesn't forget about this trick try having him sit before you put down his food dish full of yummy dog food or before opening the door to go outside for a walk!

7. With these simple steps your dog will be a sitting pro like me, although he may not be quite as cute.

I'd give this trick 1 paw for difficulty, but it definitely gets 5 paws for being the most valuable trick your dog can learn.

The Weekend

It seems I took an unplanned break over the weekend. I do hope you will forgive me. The Owners had to work so poor little me was stuck home doing not much. We had a big family dinner yesterday which was GREAT. You see, I am the smallest dog in the house and while this may seem to be a disadvantage it gives me the best real estate at dinnertime: under the table! Sure the other dogs can get under there but they bump their heads or have trouble turning around. ME on the other hand, I am able to zip around from person to person easily just waiting for the treats to fall! Here's a look at my competition: "The Family Dogs"

This is Gunner. He is the oldest, he usually gets a lot of treats because he can catch pretty much anything you throw to him, while I like to let the food hit me in the face and fall to the floor so I can search for it and get a little more out of the game. I like to mess with him by walking underneath him and grabbing at his legs when we are playing! He doesn't like that very much and lets out a big yawn/yell that sounds like an old man saying "HEEEYYYYYY".
Sometimes I try to look like him by sticking my one ear up, pretty good huh?
And this is Chip. She is the newest addition and when The Family got her a couple months ago she was actually smaller than me! Now she is bigger than Gunner. She has even more energy than me and we love to play together all the time. We especially like to play People Bowling. What!? you have never heard of this wonderful game? Well, it's when you run around crazily in a fit of play-fighting and slam into as many people as you can! If you can successfully knock them over you get two points! Chip usually wins since, well, her tail alone could knock a person over!

That's all for now, come back tomorrow for the first ever Tibby's Tricky Tuesday when I will teach you about one of the tricks I know!

The Whole Story

Well since I know everyone is just dying to know more about me, where I came from and where you can get a dog just like me (impossible by the way, I'm the only one there is) I thought I'd tell you the whole story.

You see, I wasn't always so loved and adored like I am now and should be. When I was a very small puppy, my sister and I lived in a shelter in West Virginia with many, many dogs. There were not enough families there to take all the dogs so some very special people came to the shelter and picked us up. We drove a very long way and switched cars and met many different people. Finally, after a long day, we arrived in New York. That is where I met my new Owners. It was obviously love at first sight (how could it not be!- I'm ADORABLE). They wish they could have taken my sister too but we knew she had a new home and new owners waiting for her too! That night we went home and the Owners tried to get me to sleep in a kennel (YEA RIGHT! - my cage days were over!) Pretty soon they let me sleep in the bed with them and I snuggled right in! And I've had them wrapped around my pretty little paw ever since!

I have only been home for just over a year and I already run the place! The Owners say that if not for a couple of websites they may never have found me. So we all want to say thanks to Bugsy's Animal Network and Petfinder.

And now a look back at my adorable past:
Here I am when I was just 3 months old.
This is the picture that was on petfinder.

And here I am the day I came home.
This is me showing my puppy face (works everytime)

Here's me and the Owners:
And this is me today, standing on OwnerGirl's Car. I can get away with anything!
So that's my story, hope you enjoyed it!

The Cat, the Lizard and the Chinchillas.

These are the animals that also frequent or live in MY room, so I thought I'd introduce them.

First, the Cat:
"Beta" as the Owners call her. She is always coming in here and eating my food, sleeping on my bed and the other day she even tried to get my bone! Ok, so she didn't even move off the bed but I saw her eyeing it, don't worry though I snapped at her and put her right back in her place. We get along sometimes but when I realize I am laying too close to her on the bed I am sure to roll over on top of her so she moves, clever huh?

Next up, the Lizard:"Myron", believe it or not he's been around for a few years now (even longer than me) but I JUST found out about him when the Owners took him out a couple months ago. Imagine my surprise, a Godzilla Jr. living under the same roof all this time. I guess that'll happen when your only a foot and a half tall like me but Geez! Someone coulda told me. Needless to say our first meeting didn't go all that well... I tried to eat him. The Owners quickly told me "No" so don't worry he's just fine, and if they want to risk their lives with that mini-monster what can a little dog do?

And lastly, the Chinchillas:
There's actually 3 of them but I guess one is a little camera shy. They are all ok I suppose, I like to keep them on their toes by jumping up against the doors of their cage every once in awhile. The Owners just got them a big bubble thing that they are supposed to run around in, well I don't think they are very smart because they just stand there when they're in it. I tried to show them that it rolls by slapping at the ball with my paw but the Owners said "No" to that too. Can't a dog have any fun around here?

About Me

Welcome to my blog. First off this is me:

Tibby

Yes, I'm a dog and I don't know what kind, some people call me a "Heinz 57" but I am most certainly not ketchup although it does taste good. Anyways...you may think it's quite miraculous that I have my own blog, and as you will soon find out I am a dog of many talents!

And since they are somewhat essential to my adventures I guess you should meet my "owners" (HA! - have they got that backwards or what!?)
Kelli & Joseph
That's about all for now stay tuned for the good stuff.
